Purple Sunday Kick Off Recording- 11/9/22

Local faith leaders and their spouses, deacons, stewards and health ministry members were invited to join us virtually on Wednesday, Nov. 9, to learn more about Purple Sunday, the impact of Alzheimer’s disease in communities of color, tips on how to be a healthy caregiver and how you can support your community.


Talks included "Matters of the Heart: Tips for Caregiver Wellness" by Naa-Solo Tettey, Ed.D., MPH, MCHES, Associate Professor of Public Health at William Patterson University, Creator & Director of HeartSmarts. Meg Boyce, Research Champion and Vice President of Programs and Services for the Alzheimer's Association Hudson Valley Chapter, also provide a research update.


This event is sponsored by AKA Sorority, Iota Alpha Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, NAACP of Newburgh/ Highland Falls, the Orange County Office for the Aging. It is supported in part by a grant from the New York State Department of Health.
